“We need to start designing cars that do not move. Then we will have an accident free SA”, Transport Minister
The department of Transport has revealed how concerned it is by the rising number of fatalities on South African roads.
The department says it blames moving vehicles for the dozens of accidents that happen on our roads on a daily basis and would therefore like engineers to start designing cars that do not move. “We are working with local engineers to design cars that won’t move”, Transport minister Fikile Mbalula said on Monday.
According to the department, if we can have cars that do not move at all, there would be zero accidents on our roads. “We understand that people need to travel from one point to another. But using anything that moves seems to be a bad idea. We need to come up with another plan. We are designing a car that will take you from point A to point B without moving an inch and we are close to finding a solution”, Mbalula said before driving off in his sports car.
